Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

doing the work return everyday leaves me with mid 12's usually, kinda annoying for a 10km drive. a decent run on the hightway will sit it in the 8's and rarely into the 7's... but the average for the last 4000km is still pretty high. Dont know how those cip makers can say your economy improvesyour just more likely to want to give it a squirt

Last cruise + return trip to airport from eastern suburbs I got 6.7l/100 in the GTI, verified with tank top-up.
Usual suburban driving sees 9.0-10.0, although with cold weather upon us that will get worse on the short trips.sigpic

Long term average
I kept an accurate record of all fuel consumption in my Mk 5 103 TDI Manual. Over 84,000km it averaged 6.18L/100km. I did 1000km per week, around 300km morning suburban grind, 700km Hume Freeway. Best was 1080km from 53.8 litres (4.98L/100km) with 3 on board on a trip from Melbourne to Bathurst. New Golf 6 (same spec) seems slightly better, but too early to tell accurately.
