  • Our cars are perfect... Other than......

So let's face it, the Mk5 is a sexy machine with very very few flaws.

But if you were to name any... What would the be?

I only really have one; the slow indicators! Drives me insane

Any way of speeding things up in that department?

      Jeez, not too many but:

Wish the DSG manual setting was
      a) shift the lever TOWARDS the driver, not away &
      b) + backwards, - forwards (this will fan a chip-war like discussion!)

Wish the steering was a touch faster.

Wish the brakes were a little less aggressive on initial/light application.

Wish the sunvisors were longer (turned to the side they leave a huge gap when the sin shines through the driver's window).

Wish the seats tilted at the front edge as well.

Wish the petrol cap holder was useful instead of useless.

Wish the exhaust tips were easily removable (the OEM tips are nasty).

Wish the DSG gear indicator was a lot bigger.

Wish the iPod doodad wasn't so lame.

Sounds like a bitch-fest I know, but I'm still really happy with it overall.

Only one worth crying about for me...no molding on the roof to stop water falling inside when the windows are open.

haha man I thought I was the only one who didn't like it...

The petrol cap is about the only thing that is designed without any consideration... What do you guys do, just leave it sitting on the side of the car? It's shizen!

Why not remove that elastic doodad thing, and put a groove on the back of the fuel filler flap to store it whilst you're pumping fuel?

Geeze even my 1992 commodore had one of those!

I'm tempted to cut/remove that boingy elastic thing. I hate having the fuel cap flopping around on my lovely yellow paint....

Same.. Trying to understand what the problem with it is?

Isn't it designed to hook onto the little door? Or just dangle beside it?

God it must be me?..... Where do you stow it? I just dangle it over the top of the filler flap.. There's nowhere to hook it on that I can see... It just hangs loose.....

Stick some foam on top of the pedal.

? Mine clips onto the door and stays there?

It clips onto the top of the door. It's a little loose fitting but it stays there and doesn't hang down.

I dont like how the middle compartment inside the MK5 is so small. In my old euro, you could fit a normal size box of tissues in there no problem. With the golf/jetta, you can't really fit much in there

I hate how you're forever manually controlling the fan speed on the a/c when you press it or the front defogger etc

I wish there was a lever you could pull if you wanted to recline the fully all the way down quickly instead of turning it with the wheel which can be a bitch at times, especially if your hand is injured and you gotta do it with your left hand

other than that, i love my car

Hmmm.....Best idea ever..fit a tissue box to all MK5's. Then when anyone has a minor gripe they can have a cry, wipe their eyes and enjoy their car again
I used to be indecisive - now I'm just not sure....

I was thinking the same, buying a VW removes the need for tissues...

Do your's extend like the GTI's?
They extend about 15cm and end up covering the spot at the back of the front window perfectly
                              I know the Jetta's don't (2.0TFSI)
