Anyway, back on topic, my #1 problem now is trying to decide whether or not to keep the OEM wheels shod with the Pirelli P-zeros and put R specs on the new wheels, or bring the Pzeros across.

R specs would be nice, but only being able to get 7500 ks out of them and having a heap of road noise doesn't really appeal..

Then again, keeping grip during acceleration, braking and cornering would be awful nice too - as would having two sets of rims w/tyres which can be swapped out depending on what mood I was in.

Anybody else out there running dual configs like that?

I would keep the stock rims as is for resale, including tyres.

        Just use the R specs.

When they wear out get some more.

I bet you will get more than 7000. Remember, what chews r specs out is track use where the rubber tread blocks get super hot and become prone to wear (but grip hard). Under light loads they wont heat up so much and wont become so very very soft.

It is the same reason road tyres last up to 40,000 k's but get thrashed out totally in one day at waneroo. Sustained Heat and Load = tyres get shagged.

I had friends who got 15'thou out of r specs on the street. On subaru's though which are 4wd so spreading the load somewhat

Yeah the problem is also aging, as well as wear.... R Specs, after a set number of heat cycles, irrespective of wear, harden up and lose a lot of their grip.

My main concern is the noise intrusion into the cabin..

But yeah you're right, the idea of keeping 2 sets of wheels/tyres for different purposes is very appealing.. Plus I can always swap the tyres around too, being the same sized rim and all....

We all really need to do a group buy of the Bildon wheel studs and bolts.

That way we can share the ridiculous cost of shipping to Australia.

I priced up a set of 60mm wheel studs and bolts and it was about $180USD..... then $185 shipping!!!!!!!

For 2 sets was only $195 shipping. So much cheaper per person.

Here is the deal for 3 sets
            Qty. Adjust Item Price
            14mm Hardened Race Studs
            Part: M14.DE.Stud 65mm $237.00
Spherical Seat Wheel Nuts (M14x1.5 )
            Part: M14.15.SPH $119.40

            Subtotal: $356.40
            Tax: $0.00
            Total Weight 45
            [ International (est) ] Shipping: $195.00
            Order Total: $551.40

I think Tinto wants a set, as do I. So if we had 3 we could share the shipping costs.

really nice rims, I would also keep the stock rims and I was looking into those Rims for the GolF 118TSI I just purchased.

Had the Advan RS on my Evo and they were light and awesome. I didn't know the RZ were forged though. Double check that, as I believe the RS-Ds are the only forged wheels in the Advan Range.

Pics below of my RS on the evo 18 x 9 +29 offset

Great wheels.. Too bad about the car! (jokes)...

Yeah I'll keep the original pirelli wheels, as I'm sure they're going to be very tough to track down later. The only quandary is whether to run two sets of tyres as well as keeping the rims.

I might wear down the Pzeros on the new rims and replace them with semi-slicks down the track. If the semi slicks prove too harsh for road use, I'll put them on the spare rims.

Better delete the message about the wheel studs then, that's off topic.

As is this message too I spose.
