Just realised 3 door and 6MT might be an issue for this buyer.

R32 and GTI DSG

I guess you need to decide what you prefer FWD or AWD. There isn't a huge difference in performance, but handling/traction of the R32 is obviously superior with the AWD. If you don't mind a bit of torque steer, wheel spin under acceleration etc then go for the Gti. Also easier to mod. I'd opt for DSG rather than manual. I prefer manual cars, but once you've tried DSG you'll never want to go back to a manual!

Very intersting information. Thanks to all for your input. I think i need to take an R32 for a spin to make sure i pick the right one. At the end of the day I think i might end up going for the GTI although the Pirelli could be a goer too! I cant wait to be part of the club.

also has the battery in there!Originally posted by smoothcall View PostIf you are needing space due to a new arrival make sure you check out the differences in the boots.
R32 has a higher boot floor to fit in the 4motion hardware. Will restrict what you can fit in under the hatch cover.
but i find the boot is pretty big already. fits golf clubs and buggy pretty easily

Yes that is some food for thought. It is such a hard decision to make. I will head to the dealership over the weekend and take an R32 for a spin. Fuel costs are another thing I am concerned about with it.Originally posted by smoothcall View PostIf you are needing space due to a new arrival make sure you check out the differences in the boots.

as dsicussed previously....over the period of a year, you will be looking at an extra (approx) $200. Which is $0.54 per day.Originally posted by cooper78 View PostYes that is some food for thought. I test drove both the GTI and R32 in DSG guise last week while I had my polo in for a service. The GTI felt like it had the slightest turbo lag, but then a huge wave of torque and that sweet pop at the upshift. Whereas the R32 was supremely linear in all its power delivery and felt sure-footed in the bends. Both are definitely quick cars, but coming from a chipped polo GTI, I'd go for the R32. The GTI sort of feels like more of the same (and it seems like almost every tom, richard (
) and harry has one these days), where as the R32 feels a lot more special (especially with that note
)

I just bought the Pirelli last week. Absolutely love it! It really has those extra "missing" features from the GTI. The interior is just amazing, really feels like a sports car, with that yellow stitching and the treaded tyre seats. The bumper on the back of the car is fully painted unlike on the regular GTI. It also has the added power 169kW instead of 147kW. Either way, you will be very happy with either car.
