If you read what I posted carefully instead of hopping on your high horse you'd realise that the guy doesn't have a leg to stand on with this anyway and to go into the dealer and start shooting his mouth off making demands will probably only make things worse for himself anyway. Unfortunately he didn't check the speedo reading before driving it out of the showroom and to go back now after nearly a week of owning the vehicle and complain about the number of k's on it at delivery is an absolute waste of time. You don't know for certain that every man and his dog has driven it anyway so what gives you the right to say my suggestion is crap. Having been through similar situations on several occasions and not just with motor vehicles, experience has taught me to handle things tactfully and not to dive in mouth first. Hopefully anyone reading through this thread and taking delivery of a new car some time soon, will now be checking the pre delivery k's on their speedo before driving it out of the showroom

I do, and these days I even go for a (short) test drive before I hand over my cheque (to make sure it doesn't have any serious, obvious problems before I take official custody).
2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

my GTI before i started it up for the first time and drove it out of the dealer...

i would say your so called 'new Jetta' was a demo. sure a few people may test drive it but the average test drive is only 5-10kms at the most.

my mum bought a demo Peugeot 307 sport-180. it was sitting at the dealer for almost 6 months because its a pretty stupidly priced car with a love or hate brown leather interior and it had 207km on it when she bought it.

Yeah my Polo was an unreg demo when I bought it - it only had 40kms on the clock after 6 months on the yard. Either it is not a popular car up here and therefore no test pilots (probably as there seems to be a huge amount of falcons/commonwhores on the road up here) or at least the dealer had bothered to reset the clock.

Point is I knew what I was buying - was not buying it as a undriven new car but a slightly driven new car. The dealer did not try and sell it as a fresh off the boat virgin car.

But having said that and whilst the situation sux - car dealers man, mine was great but some are not so great.
