Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Saw the one at Tweed on Carsales. Know what dealer by any chance?

Having only just started the decision process, I think you'd beat me to the sale anyway!

I didn't get DSG, but I paid well less than that with leather too on the road, 5 door GTI BMP.

Can you define well less? If its under 40 with leather/DSG/5dr It might just be worth going for a new one, or at least using a new price to try adn screw the dealer a little more on price.

PM me if you dont want to post it up here.... also knowing which dealer would be great to know as well. Brisbane seems to only have AustralVW and I dont know how flexable they are on their price.

so almost 96 hours later I'm in love.... All over again!

Took my baby for a drive in the mountains yesterday afternoon and was just blown away by the handling, power and percision, not to mention the feedback from the road/wheel. I'm sooo happy with my purchase and will recommend anyone to test drive a golf GTI before they by anything else!

Also had a chance to meet some of the golfmkV boys on friday night, again impressed how open everyone was to share info about their cars and advice for a noob like myself. there seems to be a real good aura floating around the GTI

                    now, its time for a

You are paying a lot of money for "one of lifes greater pleasures". Bought my R32 with 5000kms on the clock, 7 months old for $49k. Previous owner paid $68 driveaway. Thats a loss of 19K in 8 months. Pre - tax you're looking at $25K. Thats a lot of money. Personally I'd be only looking at 2nd hand. You can get 2nd hand that is effectively brand new, kms so low you can't tell the difference. I've never understood why people buy brand new, unless of course they get some kind of tax relief, or novated lease etc. Oh I forgot, that new car smell..

i bought my Polo GTI with leather just over a year old at 24,000k's and the leather smelt just as new as the brand new one i test drove a few weeks earlier. IMO that 'new car smell' in modern cars lasts for quite some time.

Congrats on the purchase isaw, great price you paid as well!

I just can't drop big dollars into something I know someone else has discarded. If they didn't want it, why would I?
I know its not logical but logic says we should all drive a camry or something anyway.

Discarded? Just because someone is selling their car doesn't mean they are discarding it nor does it mean they don't want it. I loved my 350z and didnt want to sell it, but an R32 is more practical. It was very well cared for and the next owner got a great car. I understand some people like new cars, but for the massive depreciation it really doesn't seem worth it.

Tick that box for me, I get paid a car allowance and the company helps me get fleet discount as well. New car smell all the way and a good tax return each year
