  • Which tint for a black car

    Hi all,

I have read alot about metallic 'mirror look' tint being recommended for black cars but I'm wondering what people have actually put on their cars.
So for all of you with black cars, did you go the mirror finish or a darker tint?
Personally, I don't like the mirror finish and am leaning towards a dark tint but would appreciate some feedback on what path others have taken.
    Cheers

i use the same theory no matter what the colour... as dark as possible.

please do not get mirror tint... it is the cheapest looking crap ever!

leave it to the fully sik uleh's in their V-TEC's who consider it window bling

my mate worked for Mastertint and said that it is a very cheap material compared to the 3M tint used in general applications and can start to deteriorate in just a few years.

I read the same and asked about it with two sellers. We were told mirror is illegal in NSW (which I knew) but that some company has a slightly reflective finish that is OK, but the look was individual and not to my taste.

We have a BMP GTI and we just went with a 3M Charcoal film, its made a great difference to the heat inside the car, and the look. The alternative was a metallised film that has the potential to interfere with radio transmissions and GPS signals, so we didn't go down that path, plus it was a little lighter in the look. Price fitted was RRP $295, if you know anyone in the automotive trade, dealer mate, smash repairer, etc, it would be $200.

By 'mirror finish' I'm referring to products like Endurance from Tint Professor.
I know dark tint looks a little gangsta on a black car but I think I still like it.

I have recently had black tint done on my R32. Tint-a-car recommended the type and colour. I think it looks good on the car.

This is a 3M metallic (as opposed to teh ghey 'mirror look') tint on a dark blue Astra SRi.

                  Not bad, I'll admit. However...

                  Here's black on black +4.

                  No contest.
