Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    It's comforting to hear that.

I went the R32 route for 2 reasons, I dislike turbos and I dislike FWD. I'd have hate to have thought that I could have set my personal biases aside, bought a cheaper car and ended up better on the road.

I'm not trying to disparage the GTI, I'm sure it's great on the road but coming from 20 years of RWD V8's, I have to ease into a FWD turbo. Perhaps my next car will be a Sirocco.

Enjoy your new ride. If I had to get rid of my R32 it wouldn't be for another R32. I get bored with cars pretty quick... good choice.

I bought my new Pirelli about 2 weeks ago and am in the same boat...I sold up an 04 STi and I must say the Pirelli is a much smoother ride and pulls very differently from the standard GTi. The interior is really nice and it goes off the line.

I guess for me a FWD car will always have traction issues that annoy me and would give me issues on upgrading the power to over 300BHP!! I love the car and love the fact that I have this nice power reserve to use when I want. Currently getting 10l/100ks also is very nice

I have a silver one and will try and post some pics soon. Also at the WA meet up on Sunday if anyone wants to see!
