DSG strange issue

Just new rings?


That's not going to last very long.

They didnt mention anything about rehoning the bores??

I would think the dealer's service department would have a reasonable idea as to the process of fitting new rings to an engine.

Anyway, I thought this thread was about DSG behaviour.

Have had a number of dealer workshops prove to me before that they don't.

I'm assuming a service manager and not a mechanic has passed the information about new rings onto Chardy.

IIRC the latest trend in engines is to have very light pressure on the rings to reduce friction (and therefore fuel consumtion) and wear. Sometimes this doesn't work out so well, and the engine consumes too much oil. Hopefully it will work better for Chardy this time around (but I'd prefer to have the bores re-honed as well, then vigorous running-in again).
