  • DSG strange issue

I hope I can explain my problem here with my GTI DSG b4 going to dealer.

When driving in D mode, if I step on the gas normally, I mean not floor it hard, change from 3rd to 4th seems to be a bit struggle for the car to go, you can feel and hear like a watery sound while jumping from 3rd to 4th but the car seems to be lost of power, its like when you are driving manual and releasing your clutch w/o enough gas, but if i play with M and S mode, nothing happens.

Dunno if I explain this issue detail enough or if anyone else have similar issue ...
The biggest problem is to explain to the stupid stealer and wasting my time to leave the car there whole day and to be told that this is normal ...

My first question is how long have you had the car?

my 08 change from 2nd into 3rd while driving normally (in D) gives me a very harsh thud proceeded by a loss of power like some idiot who cant drive a manual is control.... I have taken the car back to 2 different stealers and both have come back with - cannot fault. It doesnt do this in manual or S modes - of course because I am controlling the change and at what revs.

Tomorrow when I take it back (5th time) because I now have a mouldy smell coming from the AC.

Not to mention that after 15 months and 25,000 K's, it uses 1.25 litres of oil every 1000 k's, according to VW - ITS NORMAL!!!!!

yep exactly what you describe, i got the same problem, since then last week I switched to V-power instead of Vortex all the time, and then drove it in S mode for 1/2 day and then always play around the peddle shift while in D mode, seems a little bit smoother, still has the problem, but as you said, its no point taking it to a dealer and leave the car for a whole day and ended up saying its normal or no fault ...

Does anyone know if the fuel will affect too much on the gear box behaviour ???

It would help if we knew what car you drove.

What was your oil usage like up to, say, 5000k?

              my08 GTI.

oil use up to 5000k's was fine, light never came on. now the oil light comes on every 2-3,000 k's.

Did they offer any meaningful explanation why they needed replacing after only 25,000Km ?

                    nope, no explanation.

I'm guessing that its not uncommon though given the dealer and I have been logging top-ups and consumption for 10,000k's and the day they call VW with the results, VW says to replace the piston rings!!!

As long as it stops blowing smoke and burning oil then i'm really not fazed as to why.
