Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Anyone know any VW dealers in Sydney who arent up themselves?

Hi just been around to one dealer in liverpool looking at the gti with my dad and i have to say the service was shocking, these blokes were completely up themselves and we were totally put off, they didnt even want to work on a deal properly for the car.

just wanted to know does anyone know any actual good vw dealers out there in sydney, someone who will actually try and work on a deal for ya?
    cheers

Stay away from the VW dealer at Penrith,I can't say their name, But it starts with Nepean, and I think the words Motor and Group are in the name too... I , and other who have dealt with them have had very bad experiences with them, but I have heard that the dealer at Hornsby is good.

I don't know of any in Sydney but we have the same problem here in Brisbane. You have Austral who used to have a monopoly and who have said a number of times they would change the way they treated customers (each time a new DP would come on board) but nothing has really changed as I found out this year with the experience losing my 3 months of waiting and over $5K.

Another dealer who I also looked at when I was originally looking at buying ended up treating me a thousand times better and didn't take advantage of the situation I was in and the bent over backwards to help. I still kick myself for not going to Highway Auto in the first place but I feel for the high pressure tactics at Austral, signed late one night for what was a good deal but got screwed over down the track.

The lesson I learnt was to go with who you feel comfortable with even if it means paying a few more dollars. And if the dealership is too busy to check stock and so on when you're looking at buying don't expect this to change after you sign for a car.

Shop around and visit all the dealer and search on each one of them and you'll see comments from people in this forum and golfmkv.com etc and this will also give you an idea as to the dealers reputation (within reason as people generally post when unhappy and larger dealers will get more complaints).

What salesman did you deal with?

I bought my Polo from Liverpool and had a reasonably good experience, couldn't complain about much at all.

We got our new GT TDI from Liverpool and it was fairly painless, but we went in knowing exactly what we wanted. But, it will go to Denlos in Parramatta for servicing, as did our last Comfortline 2.0 TDI.

          Cheers

Don't know which dealer Mum and Dad went to, but basically the sales guys refused to let them have a test drive and generally screwed them around... and these are very patient people, so to get that sort of opinion I thought was pretty shocking. Especially since they were older cash buyers with no trade in, you would have thought that would be a dealers dream really...

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

One guy had a shocking experience with denlo parramatta with his polo GTI, where the motor caught on fire, I believe due to some dodgy wire job during a service.

He ended up a few grand out of pocket...

I bought my Golf GTI in October from McGrath Sutherland, pm for contact details... the guy I dealt with was tops, I got a deal I was happy with, and he gave me all the attention I wanted. I also dealt with Liverpool and Penrith, both tossers.

I dealt with Margaret at Chatswood Classic Cars. She was great and all the people I dealt with there were friendly and helpful. No attitude in my experience

I had the world's worst experience dealing with Chatwood Classic, on a purchase, but I believe their Service Centre has a better reputation.
Having said that, a newly installed Dealer Principal in that location was promising, and he went a long way to try to repair the damaged image his salemen had at the time we purchased.

                            McGraths

I heard from a mate in Paddington that he bought a Polo GTI from these blokes and they were really positive. Rare! I think it was way out from him though, Liverpool???

                              My preference.

                              1. Hornsby
                              2. Parra (Depends who you get there)

Wouldn't go to Liverpool, the few people I got seemed up themselves and although not rude, were fairly lifeless.
