Is it illegal to remove the resonator from the exhaust here in NSW? I've been watching some clips on youtube of cars with removed resonators and they sound so nice! the rumble/flutter mmm!!

Granted, the types of cars are very different. This may shed some light on the issue though. Personal experience (which is necxt to none).

Yes, you cannot remove something from the exhaust, whether you get pinged on it or not is a different question entirely.
Technically you may be able to argue that the emissions have not been efected and the sound doesn't exceed the perscribed levels, but AFAIK you can't remove things.

Besides, I know it is wrong to assume, but you have a MKV GTI, why not get a proper system for it. Not a 45 buck, 20 minute job?
Highflow cat, leave your resonator, a decent backbox (Generic or branded (import)) and 2.5" or 3" mild steel piping...increased performance (perhaps debateable), a great deal more legal, and a sportier sound.

Legal? what do you mean by "legal?
legal is something that cardigan-wearing grannies drive.
I believe noise is good as long as its not over-bearing. (and its safer too - when lane-changing, Ive often heard a motorbike long before ive seen it)2007 Audi RS4 with: APR ECU Upgrade; JHM Quick Shifter; Milltek Catback and Downpipes; KW V3 Coilovers; Argon Creative Carbon Fibre Splitters
