Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • DSG issue MK5 GTI

I’m having an issue that I can’t figure out what it is. I recently bought this MK5 Gti 2008 DSG, it had a good service history, dsg fluid and filter every 60k, plugs, timing belt, etc. At the moment it has 217,000km When I give it half throttle from the stop position it kinda does a hesitation between 3rd and 4th. If I’m driving normally on D, sports mode or Tiptronic nothing happens, everything goes smoothly, but when that situation happens again, especially when I’m at an intersection and I need to go quickly it will happen between 3rd and 4th. I’ve noticed once between 4th and 5th. Checked for faults with a friend VCDS and there was nothing logged for the engine or transmission, also carried out basic settings and adaption drive but had no success fixing it. There are no rpm fluctuations when changing gears in that scenario. I’m wondering if could be an injector or something else, the previous owner never did a valve carbon clean, but I’m not sure if this could be a problem regarding my situation. Any assistance will be appreciated
