Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 2.0 FSI hard starting issue. Running rough when cold.

I have a 2005 Golf with the 2.0 FSI motor in it, non turbo, automatic.

I have an issue where when i start the car cold it shakes violently when cranking, once it starts its alright, just wondering if anyone would have an idea of where i could look or start.

Its got 103k on it, top 2 engine mounts have been done in the last 2 years, the rear dogbone mount looks good.

Im thinking its a fuel issue or something but i have no idea how to trace it. Any suggestions or anyone that has had this issue?

Valves were cleaned at 74k also.

Has anyone had this issue before with the FSI it seems to be a hard engine to find stuff on online.
