Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • GTI Lazy Acceleration

    Hi all,

I have an Mk5 GTI, with a stage 1 APR tune and GFB DV+. I recently drove a different Mk5 GTI, that was also stage 1 and it was noticeably faster to accelerate and felt like boost came on quicker. Talked to my mechanic who VCDS logged some stuff, but he couldn't find anything unusual (boost was all good). Car just feels lazy to accelerate, and basically never gets enough power to lose traction. The other GTI felt waaay more lively and you had to be careful not to lose traction in the front when booting it.

    Any ideas?

Can you confirm it's been tuned?

Assuming you know for sure that its been tuned (how much boost is it making?) then you might have a boost leak or perhaps your timing is out and causing the laziness.

With APR tunes on the Mk5 GTI you can turn the tune on or off via the cruise control stalk. Might be worth checking the tune isn't deactivated.

100% has been tuned as I had it done during my ownership, didn't know you could turn the tune off, will check that out thanks !
