Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Just how much can you fit in the Jetta boot?

[QUOTE=jb747;231409]Just goes to show that they should quote the boot capacity in bottles of wine.

Brilliant idea I think the marketing department should take your lead

I have just looked up the various heights (again, to the luggage cover, not the roof), it is interesting to see the differences:

        Jetta 505mm
        Passat Sedan 409mm
        Passat wagon 463mm (V6 AWD 442mm)
        Octavia Wagon 570mm

The Passat obviously has a wider/longer but shallower load space.

Note that the Octy height is with a spare that is rated for full load AND full speed (useful for country driving), what do the Jetta and Passat have for a spare (I know the Golf GTI has a speed and load restricted "Noddy" spare tyre) ?
TSI is restricted, TDI and normal petrol have the full sized 16inch (which is the same with the TSI, but as that runs 17s its technically not right)

BTW, wasn't having a go mate, just found it funny at the time. Fair difference between the Jetta and the Passat tho!

          Hi George,

great to see you still enjoying the Jetta, when i had mine i did quite a few road trips with full loads and the car performed awesomely!

Kinda miss it now.... esp since the new car has quite a bit smaller boot.

As far as I'm concerned, you've just trademarked the almost correct, aussie way to lower a car.

I see no ice so I can't give you full marks.

Stopped at Bunnings today and bought a piece of treated pine.
45mmx75mm x 3 meters. goes straight in the Jetta with the back seat down
right up to the front passenger footwell , I actually could have bought a 3.2 meter length.
