  • Leaky coolant flange behind vacuum pump.. Question

So I have coolant puddling up on my transmission and the leak appears to be coming from the coolant flange that sits behind the vacuum pump. I'm looking to order one, however there seems to be nil stock in Australia, so I'm facing a 3-5 week wait for back order, or ordering one from Pelican Parts and still waiting several weeks.

When looking at ordering the part, it says "dont forget to order this seal" and shows an O ring. This had me thinking... Could the leak just be coming from a failed O ring? is this where they normally fail, or is it usually the plastics that fail? Could I pull off the flange, and replace the O ring with one that is the same and hit the road again?

I've got a cruise coming up in a couple of weeks and would like to get it fixed before then, thats why i'm asking about the O ring replacement.

    Thanks!

are you talking about the 06F121132H? if so just buy the replacement part, mine came with the oring
my own ended up having a cracked flange which completely came apart after i'd pulled off the hose to replace the unit

picked it up from these vw_parts_rimtoma on ebay, specifically this listing; Genuine Volkswagen Water Pipe Flange 06F121132H | eBay

If you want one quickly then somewhere like FCP Euro or Europa Parts in USA could have one here within 7-10 days. You will probably pay more for postage that what the part itself costs though.
