Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I think its a cool idea but they just don't look right.
Maybe if it was a strip without the sections and maybe at the top of the vent not the bottom.

They would have looked nicer using a less powerful LED setup. I think they appear too bright for the style of the frontend.

I saw an Evo 7 and a my06 STI with these, and they looked bloody ridiculous! I think they belong on the S6 I'm afraid...

I've got to go with tacky. I'd feel like a right wanker driving around with those on. I'll give that mod a miss.

Saw an R8 at the service centre today - I was in the lounge looking through the glass wall into the workshop with the R8 pointing straight at me.

The mechanic was trying to pull the liner out of the 'trunk', and for some reason had the DLRs on - hotdamn those things are stupid-bright! Indoors they actually hurt your retinas. I s'pose the idea is OK - I just think the 12 individual lights look more like a Fred In The Shed mod than factory fitted by Audi.

Would prefer to see them as a continuous lit strip than the Xmas-light look they have.

                  mm that'd look better.

i honestly reckon the r32 is blingy enough as it is. it's got all that chrome work on the front grille... i'm not so much a fan of that.

You mean Daytime Running Lights (DRL) which are always on during daylight. They have nothing to do with LEDS. This would be like calling them DRH for Daytime Running Halogens which is what 99% of them are and DRX for Daytime Running Xenons.

Light is the purpose and Xenon/Halogen/LED etc are the technologies that deliver the light.

Is there any purpose to drive with your PARKING lights on during the day? What on earth is 5watts going to do? Why not turn on the DRL feature?

They're a little blingy but it's not like they're the worst modification in the world. Definitely not as ergh as chrome dish/plate wheels or dumping so far into the guards you can't see the tops of the tyres anymore.
I personally would prefer some more normal style driving lights. Such as these ones off of the Chines Bora which fit on the MkIV R. Linky link .

Apparently not well known but there has been a change to make driving with fog lights illegal unless it is actually foggy (0.5% of the time in Melb)

Question is, is are they driving or fog lights?
I'm so over this debate (not having a go at you mate). Neither fog lights or driving lights on normal passenger cars should be blinding any drivers at all ever. Just get them aligned properly and it should be an issue. Sigh...

Ouch that sucks. I've never bought anything from TM so thanks for the heads up.
