Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • GTi window washer fault code

    Hi All

The window washer on my son's car stop working a couple of weeks ago and i managed to borrow a vagcom cable from a friend to scan the fault.

i thought it was the motor which i brought a replacement but it still did not work.

Would any one know what the reason would be from the scan below?

    VW Golf GTi 2007 model.

Looks like a short circuit. Has the fault come back after you replaced the motor and cleared trouble codes?

If it has. Have you tried checking for short with a multimeter. Looks like same issue front and rear window washer motors, which if its the same as POLO is the same motor.

Yes once i put in the new motor and cleared the code the fault codes still came back.

After doing some more research it could be either a 460 or 404 relay fault, they are located next to the drivers side steering wheel.

They look like a pain in the back side to take out.
