Do you really think that it's legal to manually operate brake, tail and indicator lights on a trailer?

Just to throw a spanner in the works, heavy trucks do have manually operated trailer(Stretch) brakes. these brakes can be operated separately from, or in conjunction with the prime movers brakes.

But that doesn't affect the operation of the brake lights here. And the ADR's allow for that and it's legal (heaps in there on different styles of truck trailers).

Imagine a car with a separate brake light switch, it's hard enough now to get people to flick one indicator switch let alone them hitting two switches.

I don't understand why you would spend $30K+ on a car and then skimp on a $2-300 cable connection (there is a new kit out that for the towbar and harness is around $500 installed - can't remember who is selling them off the top of my head - in the golfmkv australia forum look for a post by dingah on bike moving).
