In WA Private Plates have a one-off purchase cost, max about $500 (depending on the style you choose), then it s normal rego costs each year from then on
Those plates in Qld are $415, while Euro plates are... $595!
yeah, but is that one off or EVERY YEAR!?
NSW is every year, even the cheapest black on white plate with standard style lettering (like ABC-123) still costs $90/year if you define the lettering, full custom in metallic is $500 a year.
Jesus...You guys are gettinig ripped...I think the only good thing about the NT was its cheap rego...I payed $510 per year for rego, and a one off payment of $140 for personalised plates with 7 letters.

Yep we get ripped off.... problem is people still get them (me incl.). Mind you I couldnt justify paying 400+ for a piece of tin...... so i went for the personlised +.
and RTA justify by saying it goes towards ad campaigns........ well don't see many of those and when I do they are pretty ****. They should give you a form to fill in when you purchase the plates on what kind of ad you want with the money they are taking from you
the RTA are the biggest thieves out. When you get your green P's they charge you something like $70 bucks for that new piece of laminated paper. It's unfair because as a regulation they have a complete monopoly and can charge whatever they want for vital things.
And look at the state of NSW roads!! You'd think that we'd at least get some decent roads in return for our wounded bank accounts. But no, our hard earned cash is spent putting more bloody speed cameras up. It's a joke.

Ditto to that.... Mine cost me $330.00 including GST when I ordered them in Nov '06.
Normal registration fees after that.
Just depends on how good your plates are, if you happen to have a good combination thats eye catching and easily recognisable then 130 a year in NSW is a small price to pay in my opinion.

Agree! The state of these roads here in NSW are shocking! Melbourne rocks! ......and to think I lived in Sydney for most of my life. I often think about moving back to Sydney....then I think what for?!?...(can only think of family & friends).
