    Yes, you can.

    But why bother saving 50l x $0.10 = $5.00 or around $8.00 for a trip Melb - Syd. , when you've just spent $55,000 or more on the car. Doesn't make sense to me.

    However, if 98 is just not available, then it does make sense

      Why, this was discussed to death a while ago and it's pointless using 95 when VW recommend 98. Why spend $50k+ on a car and skimp on petrol when the difference per year came out to be something like $120

      98 is better for your car as it has cleaning additives as well.

        I agree. I was just adding to the thread info that some may not be aware of . In a pinch other fuel is OK.
