    2.0 FSI P1403 Regulation Deviation

    Hi all,

    For a while now I've been getting the occasional check engine light relating to the EGR system. Up until now I've just been clearing them to see what happens - normally the reappear after a few months so not a big issue. They normally come on while driving, however last week one came on immediately after start. Since cleared and has not come back, but the freeze frame data was a bit strange.

    P1403 - 008 - Regulation Deviation - Intermittent - MIL ON

    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 10101000
    Fault Priority: 0
    Fault Frequency: 71
    Reset counter: 255
    Mileage: 0 km
    Time Indication: 0

    Freeze Frame:
    RPM: 10200 /min
    Load: 100.0 %
    Speed: 255.0 km/h
    Temperature: 215.0°C

    Has anyone had this code for this engine, if so is the only way to fix it replacing the EGR valve?

    According to the Ross Tech info, looks like you are up for either the N18 valve or possibly a new complete EGR valve.

    The N18 is quite a common failure and causes EGR errors, so you might be lucky with just having to replace this.

      Have you taken the top off the EGR and looked at the plastic gear in it ?
      Mine was quite worn in one quadrant. I took it out turned 90degrees and put it back in.

        Checked the gear today, seems fine. Will have to look into it more.

              I got this again today, had it a few months back and reset, it came back today but shows the same mileage, it is currently at 175598km.
              Looking to replace it, or can I fix it somehow ?
