At the point of collecting my new Golf, while the salesman was off photocopying some docs, I looked across the desk at our folder.
Marked across the folder was written "Do not supply Survey"
Do you think they already suspected the result?
When I saw that, it made me more determined to ensure my experience was brought to the attention of that dealership's head office.

Hahahahaha...How dodgy is that!! VWA really need to get onto dealers in regards to cars sold to surveys supplied back to VWA...Surley there is a massive discrepency in that regard.

        Man that is soooo dodgy.

Call the survey office number (1800193934), get them to update your address and send you a new survey card. They might even quote you the Customer ID number over the phone, and you just have to take it to http://www.acnonline.com/volkswagen.

When my leased Jetta was delivered, the dealer *really* stressed to me how important the survey was for their business, and basically pleaded for me to return it to VWA.

But I didnt get no card!
From what I can gather (from mine) the welcome pack just has a few things in it like VW cap (the one you wear on your head), coffee thermos, umbrella, pens, dealer keyring ? (mine did anyway) I received mine when I took delivery of the car, I don't recall getting an actual road service card but I have already used the service once (precautionary call because of all the burning smells after a few 100 k's, smelt like it was going to catch fire - obviously normal as it's gone now) just call the 1800 number and give them the rego number, they were very quick and well organised (hopefully always will be if needed) I got the survey online within a few days and just filled it all out including all the B.S. about how good the dealers after sales service was - that's another story we won't go there !!!

Well no welcome pack here, but hey, is it really that important to get a hat and a pen? My dealer was excellent, and I'd hardly kick up a fuss over a hat.
Especially when they took my trade somewhat over market value...and I'm so in love with the little rattler! To me, more important was an honest and upfront sales and finance experience, and I certainly got both of those.

The survey was highlighted by my dealer on delivery, and it happened about 3months after the sale, and both the dealer and VW were all over me doing it. Just got a followup letter recently from the dealer thanking me for doing it, several months in!

The welcome pack from VW is just the roadside assist card, I don't know why they don't send out the card and maybe a few little trinkets like pens and so on, the cost would be minimal but still we'd end up paying for that.

The dealer gave me a discount card/book/keyring but I wasn't expecting anything from them as they did a great deal and really looked after me after my experiences with Austral trying to screw an extra $5000+ out of me after I'd already traded my car.

Thumbs up to Highway Auto who really bent over backwards to help, were honest and upfront about everything, didn't lie to me, gave me a really good deal even when I wasn't in a position to do a deal and actually made me feel like they cared. On top of that they stayed back hours after closing to get my deal sorted out and kept me up to date throughout the process. The complete opposite to how Austral treated me.

I had good experiences with talking to the Ipswich and the Gold and Sunshine Coast dealers who were very helpful and I would recommend them all, Highway Auto had a car coming that was close to what I wanted so I went with them.

Sounds like Qld dealers are more serious about doing a deal and following up with good customer service than some NSW dealers are. I haven't had all that much hassle and I'm not really complaining but it would make me feel a bit better about continuing to have the car serviced by the original dealer if they kept their promises and showed a bit more organisation than I just had at my first simple 1000 k's complimentary check up , I'm not sure if I'm prepared to risk letting them service it !!

another thumbs up for Highway. The manager at the time Robert was excellent to deal with (apparently he has since moved on).

Austral was good to me too. i bought a car (in stock) on Monday afternoon and collected Thursday morning. they let me took the car even when i haven't returned the signed finance documents (it was through them tho with VW finance).

btw i took delivery of the car on 29th Aug and got my roadside card 2 days ago. no survey so far tho.

There's probably few service industries that conduct surveys that don't have a no survey option. I do field work for a large IT company and I have that option if I believe the customer's expectations are unreasonable - not that I've ever exercised it in 15 years as I'm not that motivated.

I recieved a few things after my purchase from Chatswood Classic Car (Henry Liu) the Assistant Manager.

                            1. Free Gift Basket
                            2. Front passeger & Driver Genuine VW rubber mat.
                            3. $800 Gift Voucher to GAP Studio (not sure why the hell they give me such voucher) but i guess better than nothing.
                            4. Roadside Assist membership card.

All up it was a pretty good experience at the end.

I got the Welcome Pack for the Skoda before I even got the car - I'm assuming this is because the Skoda guy has a lot of time on his hands.

Why the build up peoples expectations by calling it a Welcome Pack I have no idea.

The guy tried to survey me over the phone but I couldn't answer most questions as I didn't have the car yet.
