  • Why I dont go lower!

This is why I dont believe in going too low for a road car.
I have recently moved to this new place and I knew there wasnt too much clearance each time I used the driveway. Thought I would take some pics on friday after noticing a couple of minor scrapes under the front tray. Its an under 5km/h entry speed to get away with it. I have dropped the suspension 35 m/m on the koni coilovers. Should get a tad more when I refit the 18in BBS's.

Thanks Dave, its a little hard keeping it clean at the moment as I would almost say our drought has broken down here.
I'll try and post a pic of the view from my place of the mountain covered in snow.
My car would look nicer back on its BBS's but that mightn't be till november...
      Cheers!

and get your priorities right; fix the driveway instead of winding up the coilovers

needs to be lower its not low enough until bumpers are consumables! Maybe carry around some 245 x 45 hardwood planks in the back of the car?!

just joking mate, big fan of your GTI !

i still havent got my driveway cut out yet but ive mastered my entry/exit technique

at least you dont scrap paint like alot of other cars do, i like what VW have done with the front having that seperate black piece of plastic there just for scraps, and its only $170 to replace.

Meh I know it's something I'm going to have to do when I get my own place one day. I think there'll be a plank of wood going down at the exit of our townhouse garage when I get my new Suspension installed. It grazes across the lip if I don't get the swing exactly right when I back out and that's on stock suspension.

Driveways are the biggest enemy known to man...My VR is high as a kite and I can still scrape on mine if I'm not careful!

I remember seeing different wheels on your V Andrew, and they looked superb. Get them back on ASAP!

That was the first thing I did Evo when I checked out the place. I knew it was low and aproached it a almost zero speed and cleared. My last driveway was over a brow and had to be tackled on a huge angle otherwise the undertrays would rub midships. That meant that with the suspension setup it always lifted the LHR wheel clear off the ground. This is better but still not idle.
As I say, with the 18s on it should give me a couple more m/m! I cant wait to get them back on one day. The 17s will turn into my track wheels then.

I believe that councils are responsible for crossovers, so why not chat to them , and see if they will modify the driveway (no doubt at yr expense).

It seems like an extra layer of concrete, or tear up the old crossover and replace it with a more user-friendly one.

It would be worth a call to see if they will come to the party with regard to a moodification and a hopefully a partial cost-sharing
