  • Bluetooth on Mk5 Golf GTI

    Hi guys,

I just need some advice on how to find out if the bluetooth phone connection is connected in my car?

    Cheers,

Did you order the bluetooth kit from VW? If so they usually mount the little speaker on the steering column.

They also usually throw all the info (booklet etc) on how to pair your device etc in the glovebox on delivery.

    Hope that helps

well i bought my car second hand and wasn't sure if it had it or not. the dealer where i bought it from are very hard to get in contact with, so i never got an answer. all it had in it was the ipod connection manual.

do you know how much to get it connected?

I have factory bluetooth in mine, basically it is always on when the radio is on, easiest way to check would be to get a bluetooth enabled phone and get it to search for bluetooth devices whilst your sitting in your car, if it finds nothing then you dont have it. Honestly I wouldnt recommend it, I have a nokia 6500 slide and its a pain in the ass. It drops out every now and then and honestly I would rather a fixed setup with cradle, call me old fashioned but recharging the phone and a seemless faultless connection is much better in my opinion, and you also have a signal boost wiht the external antenae

thanks for that angryman. it just seems useless then when they've put a button for it on the steering wheel. what a waste of a button hehehe.

yeh i tried looking for a bluetooth connection in the car and it found nothing, i guess i dont have it.

do you own a ipod adapter in your car?

Whats the factory bluetooth that you have.?
Unless you imported this yourself then you probably have the POS parrot system that the dealers fit and call VW OEM Bluetooth.

Does your bluetooth display in the MFD on the dash? if not then you dont have factory bluetooth.
A few of us here have installed the genuine VW bluetooth module but had to import it ourselves as it is not available here as a factory option.

From memory i think i paid about $600 and fitted it myself.
You might find one on ebay or you can pick them up here but alot more expensive but worth it in my opinion

I'm still spewing that a $43,000 premium car does not have factory fitted bluetooth.

If I were smart I wouldn't have gone through with it.

                          Oh well. <miserable & bitter>

Is the lack of bluetooth really making you miserable and bitter?

You probably should consider yourself lucky if that's the only thing making you like that, others have more important things to worry about and yours is easily fixed by fitting the VW/Skoda bluetooth.

BTW what is a $43,000 premium car?? Is this a magical car that has every feature?
