My GTI is harder on rear tyres.
Even with the added power going through the front wheels the rears wear a lot more than the fronts. Its not an alignment issue as they are evenly worn across. I would do it each service if you have wear issues, with my customers golfs, I do as required.

That doesnt sound right that the rears wear quicker than the fronts, something is wrong.
It could still be an alignment issue even if they are worn evenly across as it could be toe in / toe out.
The ones you do in your own garage, oil, filter, Apexi blow out and tyres it seems : )
My 15k service cost $254 by the by, as I got a discount by servicing at the purchasing dealer up at Mooroochydore. They did indeed do all the report said, I checked. Nice change from prevoius Ford service/thrash !
Pod back on this morning, and I'm a happy camper again.

I intend to rotate the tyres with the 7500 klms service, any one else doing this?
les
Yes, I do my own interim oil change and tyre rotation every 7500km. Rotating the tyres means you're up for 4 at once instead of 2, but at least you have an even amount of grip in the mean time.

that doesn't sound normal.
What alignment specs are you running (F&R).
carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
It is common for the rears to wear more so on them and also for them to wear out of round as well but I dont have that problem.
I am running standard specs on the alignment but have the Koni coilover kit. I drive it hard in the corners as thats the only place you can speed these days!
Cant wait to get some new tyres for my BBs's again soon!
Cheers, Andrew
