In Brisbane I'm seeing 30c a litre difference between standard and diesel. This equates to 20c a litre difference when you take into account premiums 10c premium over standard.website: www.my-gti.com

What i have noticed in my 3 years of having a diesel car in victoria is the lag that there is between diesel and petrol, if ULP goes up, diesel will follow a week or 2 later, if ULP goes back down, diesel will slowly fall back to a comparitive rate. in the long run i still belive that the economy is worth it.Originally posted by Maverick View PostIn Brisbane I'm seeing 30c a litre difference between standard and diesel. THe below calculation is fuel cost based on 20,000km and takes the price of diesel to be 167 and the price of Premium to be 1.52 which is the cheapest i found on motormouth today for both fuels using the economy figures from the vw website.
GTTDI 6.6 2204.40
103 D Man 5.7 1903.80
1.9 D Man 5.5 1837.00
TSI DSG 7.7 2340.80
FSI Auto 9.5 2888.00
FSI Man 8.8 2675.20
GTI DSG 8 2432.00
GTI Man 8.1 2462.40
Still in front for fuel costs. I know this will depend on the type of driving you do. I know my overall economy over hte last 3000km has been 6.7 l/100 which is poretty close to what is quoted, buit i can get it to under 5 if i vary my driving style on a long run.currrently... MY10 GTI | DSG | Candy White | Sunroof | 18's | BT | MDI
previously... MY08 GT TDI | DSG | Reflex Silver | Sunroof

The thing with turbo car is more so how easy they are to get extra power. It is cheaper with the Japanese cars, but its still damn simple with the VWs etc.
Anyway... How much longer do you have on your Ps? If its 12 months I'd say just hold off buy the car with the engine you want, not just the body work. A car isnt like the chick down the pub when you're half blind, the insides count, its the one you take home to meet the Ps.
Something to think about anyway.2008 Jetta 2.0 TSI

That's a good way of putting it... lol
But i'm on my P's until Nov. 2010. And i don't think my Mk4 will last until this time next year.
I like the VW's because they are sensible (for the girls that go for that).... But they can be fun at the same time (for the girls that go for that also).
I think i'll get a new car at the BIMS next year.. Gives me time to have a look at alll the options etc.
As for the VAG wagons, i'm not a huge fan of the wagons but i really like the Jetta. Even though the Octavia is nice.. I'd go the Jetta over it.
It's all so confusing. So let's leave the body/engine discussion for now.
What options should i tick? (In the sense of options you have and would recommend)
I don't like leather and i'm defs NOT getting the iPod adapter.2002 Volkswagen Bora V5 - 2007 Mazda 3 GT - 1998 Ford Contour Sport - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0T - 2013 Volkswagen Passat 130TDI - 2015 Ford Escape 1.5 - 2016 Subaru WRX - 2018 Volkswagen Golf R Wolfsburg Wagon
