I haven't been on here in a while & sometimes have a brouse & came across this & thought I could put in a couple of points.
I've worked in prestige dealerships big & small since 96 & have been working for VW the last 8 month's & I've done a fair share of DSG oil changes. It's not a hard process, but without the correct tool's, measuring instrument's & more importantly, know how, it can be difficult.
I'm not saying you should or shouldn't do it yourself. I personally wouldn't recommend it at all, but you've asked a question you had already answered yourself before you posting.
Think of it this way. You've brought a new R32 & your going to change the DSG oil yourself.
One, the are some VW employee's incl. service advisor's & managers who frequent on here & see what goe's on from time to time.
Two, you've posted pictures up of your car & rego number.
Three, this can void warranty. Especially if you have no certified qualifications to carry out this operation.
If something goes wrong with your tran's at any stage, put two & two together.
The last time I checked, a GTI DSG is onward's of 15+K. An R32 is going to be more, as it's larger & has more part's. Eg. Output shaft.
Add all of this up & your trying to save yourself $500 every 60K, which would happen every approx 2+ year's. Sometimes less, as R32's don't normally do high K's.
Is it really worth trying to save $500 every two year's with the risk of stuffing up a DSG at a cost of $15+K?
One last thing. Are you going to change the Haldex oil yourself every 30K?
Good to see the abovementioned managers have nothing better to do than spy on their customers.
That's pretty unfair - I suspect they are enthusiasts, and this is an enthusiast website so they're likely to be here anyway. I doubt they are here simply to "spy" on customers.
Well if they consciously, albeit allegedly, use information posted here to impose restrictions on warranties, it doesn't really matter whether they are enthusiasts or not.

As been mentioned. Just cause there managers or advisor's doen't mean there not enthusiasts. Alot of these people are & love the brand there selling or working for. Not just VW's either!
Put your self in VW's position for alittle while.
If you sell a product & you find out that it's being improperly serviced or abused.
Would you fit the bill for the repair?
I remember being out at the drag's one night with a few friend's & one of them worked for a car company.(No names) One of them loves the drag's & motorsport. Anyway, some of the car's there were brand new off the lot & were getting a thumping on the strip.
He start's writing done the rego's. I ask why.
He explained it like this. Why the **** should we be paying for the way they treat their car's?

I'm told that most of the bigger drag meets & track days there are stringers taking photos & regos for the car companies & insurance companies. Covering up the rego plates isn't enough either - some are very "dedicated" & are taking photos of VIN #s & if you have the bonnet open they are taking photos of the engine too.
Don't let strangers near your car!
carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
