  • Chipping VS Warranty

    Anyone chipped during thier warranty?

Anyone know an ECU flash that is undectable to the VW technician?

Anyone prefer a flash over a new ECU? or vise versa?

( I have no idea what this smilie has to do with this post but I had to click on it.)

hundreds of people do flash tunes during their warranties, its only if the tune directly contributes to the fault occurring that VW will not warrant the fault. do a bit of a search around the forum these questions have been answered many times.

and to do with which are indetectable... well different people will tell you different things but basically if everything hits the fan, then the vw techs will be able to tell if you've had your ecu flashed no matter what tune you pick.

and flashtune is the way to go, its only on older cars that you replace the actual ecu (unless you're going to a standalone system)

Hmm the way that I think of it is that its all up to you.

If you think that you can afford to replace the parts that become faulty due to the chipping, if you think you can afford the liability on the chance that insurance won't cover you due to the chip.....

Well I'm pretty conservative...decided stock all the way.........

my insurance will cover the chip, just have to tell them you have had it done.

If warranty concerns you - go with Oettinger - you can have full 3 year warranty coverage (engine / drivetrain / breakdown) -

If you have ant doubts or think the risk of losing your warranty is a problem, DO NOT DO IT.

If cars start failing due to overstressed parts the dealers will be looking for mods and will be capable of detecting them.

BTW I am waiting for the ChippedUK ST3 to be sorted out with the flash counter issue and I will be buying one.

Didnt know you had an R32 (I can see your sig now!) - Sorry, Oettinger do not do the R32.

We have done ~ 30 odd New R32's with DMS software with excellent results - there is no sign of it installed, the flash counter is not tripped & its undetectable to the dealer.

Let me know where you are located, your local APR / Oettinger dealer can put you into some R32 owners running this software.

Sounds pretty sweet - ECU tune that is completely undetectable...

Say something stuffs up on the car and I have to leave it into VW, is there anyway to get the original settings put back on?

Im in the eastern suburbs of Sydney.

Has anyone had to make a claim though?

If so have you heard of any experiences?

                              Guy,

I was speaking with Euro Auto Tech located in Sydney today and I might be getting the DMS software, I've been told its completely undetectable, again is this true?

If I bend a rod in my engine will VW not be able to tell the software has been changed? Can you have the OEM software put back on before you take the car into VW to be checked?

Im going to wait for the new upload tools that allow the tuner to upgrade the ECU without removing it.

Does DMS offer any warranty like Oettinger do?
