  • MKV R32 - few questions

    Hi all,

    Would like to hear from R32 owners regarding a few questions I have;

Has anyone noticed a clicking vibration felt through the brake pedal when pressed at a complete stop?

Anyone notice better performance after 2 or 3 '000 kms? or this just a myth?

Anyone figured out how to drive DSG smoothly? I mean it seems like a fairly notchy gearbox at the moment, when coming to a stop and shifting down car sometimes jerks from 2nd to first.. maybe I just need to put some more milage on the clock... currently has done about 1500 kms.

    Cheers !

Generally I find the DSG in the R32 to be very smooth. About the only place that it regularly jerked was entering my driveway, which is a steep climb. Basically it would be in second as I slowed, and then a little power and always a fairly hard shift. Now I always come to a complete stop, and it's all smooth.

Cool, I think a few more '000 kms will smooth things out a bit...

How about the vibrations through the brake pedal? anyone felt this at the begging of the mileage on the R32?

Ive been told its the 'servos filling up with air', whatever that means ??

Haven't noticed anything in the brake pedal, will take more notice.

Are you driving in S or D? I usually find that it'll drop to 2nd until I stop, then it'll drop to 1st and unless you were looking at the dash you wouldn't even have known.

Im driving it in D at the moment.

The soft click vibrations coming through the brake pedal do not happen after every stop. Only every 5th or 6th stop I might feel it after a few seconds at a stop with my foot pressed down on the brake.

It kinda feels like tension being released against something that it causes a 'knock'.

Have now done 2500kms and have not detected any 'clicking' from the brake pedal, although, I have not stabbed the "whoa" pedal with ferocity yet.

I have felt the 'clunky' change from 2nd to 1st...rarely in "D". I have noticed considerable clutch useage when the engine is cold (sounds like a manual car), but when the oil and internals are warned up, the heavy clutch feel disappears.

I do notice that I have to back off (under heavy acceleration - uphill) when following a WRX.....and launch control is simply brilliant. My mate (who runs a nice WRX) was introduced to "launch control" at the weekend (he was in the passenger seat). His comment? "Forget it...****s on the WRX Big Time."

No issues at all with brakes....and they work very well indeed.

Hmm.... the knock is very slight almost unnoticeable... Ill see after another 1000 kms if it goes.. might just be the brakes still a bit tight. cheers
