Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Auto lock over 15km? SERIOUS!!

How do you set that up? That would make things so easy for me as my wife loves the doors locked.

    Please tell!

If you have the ful size MFD it in the conv. settings - Auto lock, Auto Unlock.
Doors lock when you go over 15km/h.
Unlocks when driver removes key from ignition or 2 pulls of the (inside of course) door handle. 1st pull unlocks that door, second pull opens the door.

If you dont have the full size MFD then VAGCOM is reqd.

Look, all these people are lieing. You cant open the boot that easy.

You need to stand on your head, facing north with a westerly wind, tounge out and push the buttons in the following order. unlock, lock, boot, lock, boot, unlock, lock and unlock at the same time, followed up by the boot for 2 seconds.

On a Skoda, you go into the MFD and set it up (one of the 2 dozen+ options in there somewhere)

Have you got the rain sensor pad on the windscreen just in front of the mirror?

Your dealer is supposed to show you this stuff on delivery & help you set the car up how you like it.

You set this via vagcom/vcds and enable the menu so you can turn it off and on from the full sized MFD. Takes about 15 minutes to activate.

How about pressing unlock button on drivers side door, next to door handle.....

OK so some GTI's have a full access MFD and others don't? How does that work? Does a VW dealer have to activate it or something?

MY08 cars have full MFD. Also cars that were optioned with Sat Nav have full MFD.

You'll need the VCDS/VAGCOM software to do it, I don't know why they disable it but it takes about 10-15 minutes to enable as there is a decimal to hex and back conversion step for the RDL controller. You can then enable/disable the function from the MFD.

If you're in Brisbane I can turn it on at one of the GTG's otherwise you could try some people locally who have a cable.

Anyone in Sydney willing to help me out on this VCDS/VAGCOM thing?

                                Thanks!
