  • Correct tyre pressure guides for golf mk4 please

My car is 2003 VW golf mk4 1.6 8V, with engine code BFQ. It has no original manual and there is no tyre pressure range for its current tyres 185/75R14. I wonder if any of you, especially those owners of BFQ AVU in Australia, could give me the correct tyre information please with profuse thanks.

I am going to travel up north in several days and desperately need to know the official number with the tyre pressure. Tyre professionals and mechanics have given me different numbers from 28-34PSI.

Have you checked the fuel filler cap?

Yes, it doesn't have information for tyre of 185/75R14. It has data for R15, R 16 and R17.

Odd. Sounds like your fuel cap has been swapped.
I'd go 32-34. 28 sounds too soft too me even on tall tyres.

That doesn't appear to be an OEM size tyre. According to this website, choosing a happy medium, they would suggest somewhere in the region of 27-29psi all round.

Thanks. VW Bora manual says for 74KW, in bar, with R14 front 2.1/2.4 rear 2.1/3.2, up to half/full load respectively. I will put 34PSI for near full load.

Not sure indeed. It has no clue anywhere in the car. The spare tyre is 175/80R14. Odometer seems consistent with GPS mileage with those current tyre size of 175/75R14

                  Hi Craig,

Sorry mistake above, should be 185/75R14 for the current tyres.
