Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Clutch adjustment question 4Motion

Hi all, just bought a 4Motion Mk4 and know very little re the mechanicals on these - the clutch pedal starts to engage the clutch about half way up from floor, is this how the MK4s are or can adjustments be made? any advice appreciated..

It's probably on it's way out.

Don't try and adjust it, as you'll have a very hard time trying to get a decent pedal and a non-dragging clutch when it comes time to replace it.

The problem is i think adjustment is only possible through the pedal as the clutch is hydraulically driven no cable. A lot of threads on vortex say your basically stuck with it.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

When the clutch starts slipping, start putting money aside.
