  • Mk4 Gti conversion questions

i've searched and searched but i can't seem to find any definitive answers. it's currently a 1.6 at the moment. here is what i've come up with what i need so far.

    - Engine, Loom & accessories etc.
    - Gearbox, Driveshafts etc
    - Gti cluster
    - exhaust which im guessing i would need a complete? maybe get away with turbo to cat?
    - intercooler piping
    - fuel pump?
    - Brakes. (i have a mate who will probably be selling his r32 brakes so i'd leave them and just not go hooning it until they're in)

Sorry if i look like a complete fool right now. long day and i'm on my way to sleep but i thought i could get this up so i can start a list for parts etc.

    Lucas.

any reason you want to do a 1.8t swap?

Hey mate mines now finished! I got a whole wreck that was rear ended. I also usef the ignition barrel and key. Also will need whole gti exhaust as its bigger pipingad is also complete so need to drop the axle or cut and re-weld.

My conversion had a hiccup as I installed the clutch fork backwards and my slave cylinder failed. Learned alot doing this, also replaced timing belt, water pump, oil, oil filter, trans fluid and cv boot. Google, vwvortex and youtube helped alot but a HUGE thanks to gav and stan for the tips along the way too. Took me longer as i expected as i have a new born son which threw a spanner in the works!

Thanks mate, do you mind me asking how much you payed for the wreck? seems smarter to buy a full car as dylan said for the little things.
