Has anyone here had it happen to them and what did they do to fix it? im aware how to change it just looking for a replacement! i know vw will charge a hefty amount for a piece of metal so id like to avoid them unless its a last resort

You should at least ask VW how much before dismissing them completely.

Agree with this. Sometimes you can be surprised by dealer pricing (in a good way) ... It's pretty rare, but when it happens you'll be glad you checked.Originally posted by h100vw View PostYou should at least ask VW how much before dismissing them completely.

If the crack is not too bad, it may be able to be welded. Otherwise there is eBay/ wreckers ...

I just looked on ETKA and it looks like they are the same as the 06A engines. I have one from an NA A3 here, no oil level sensor hole. 038103601NA is the part number I have.Originally posted by marcoz View Postas title states the low life has taken its toll

Find part number on item of ETKA.
Type Electronics, Cars, Fashion, Collectibles, Coupons and More | eBay or Pelican Parts - Porsche Parts & BMW Parts & Mercedes Parts - Automotive Parts and Accessories - Porsche & BMW & Mercedes into your address bar.
Find part.
Order and pay.
Go to volkswagen and buy sealant for $40.
Undo screws on broken sump.
Drain oil.
Fit new sump with sealant.
Go to Super Cheap auto and buy VW approved Penrite oil and filter.
Fill and done.
Nothing complex mate. Thank god for VW part numbers on every part.Originally posted by MightyCarModsI'd rather lose by a mile because I built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me. Your car is your story, so don't let someone else write the book.
