Great work. It is good to see someone young is willing to put in the hard yards and get really nice results for your work. You get a much higher appreciation for your car by attempting things and stretching your knowledge.

Uuhhhh. maybe some mk4 experts can help me out, funny clicking type sound started on the passenger side only when not under load in gear in neutral it's silent. had a quick look at the drive shaft and the boots like fine but it has some play in it. full lock and low speed doesn't make clicking sounds like they usually do. any ideas?

That colour is amazing. I love the before-and-after car wash shots So did you fix the clutch, gearbox and headgasket, or was that done already when you bought the car? Would have been a shame if it was scrapped, good thing you rescued it

Clutch was done before i had the car, and the head gasket turned out just to be a heater hose. silly people just instantly thought it was head gasket when it lost water and overheated. unfortunately it's the crappy DUU but it seems pretty healthy. no crunching or notchy shifting. i noticed a couple of days ago there was 1 drop of oil on the shed floor. had a good look under it and it's coming out of the opening in the gearbox for the flywheel. I'm hoping it's higher up and just dripped down there. rear main seal doesn't sound fun.
Didnt take any photos putting them in but here is the result:
rear is a little lower then the front. i'll either raise it or lower the front to match
So far they seem really good for the money, a little bouncy over very rough road but for sub $400 coil overs i can't complain.
More updates tomorrow.
Lucas.

Thank you Unfortunately they are a little unloved these days, mk5's seem to be where it's at. Being one of very few mk4's intown it sure does get looks! first drive with coils in the police had me pulled up, they seem pretty cool with it fingers crossed no other officers think differently..

Wow the cops actually pulled you up 'cause of the stance ? man ain't they got nothin better to do....
Ah and Mk4>>>>Mk5 for sure.
pretty quiet town, you usually see all our police cars parked up. I've been driving it since october at stock height and there isn't many police here in Bathurst. they were just probably like "Ohh god he's now lowered it"
And my theory is for mkiv's is they aren't classics and loved like the mk1/2 but they are fairly old and people have moved to the mk6/7 just sort of us p-platers with no money and people who loved mk4's from the start who own them. Maybe they'll appreciate in value over time?
