  • Bora 4motion Brake Pads

    Hey guys,

Does anyone here run different pads other than the stock ones on there Bora 4motion? I was hoping that Hawk made something as I got a quote for Green Stuff that are $290 for fronts and rears which is good but apparently they are dusty...

I thought the green stuffs were meant to have minimum dust due to the lack of steel and carbon compounds?
The price isn't too bad (relatively speaking). Once my pads start to go I was going to look into some red stuffs.

I think they are way to dusty and they have glazed my rotors over ( I am harsh on them ). So machining and new pads on the way .

Hawk do not make anything and I was disapointed with the Ferrodo last time I used them ( abiet a different car but yeah ).

I read an article that would have changed my mind just after it was too late to change my mind damnit... yeah yellows are supposed to have more cold bite.. and more dust than reds...

                next change I'll go Yellow

The yellow's are for track use are they not? I would've thought that to get any decent performance out of those you'd be needing to get them a lot hotter than what you get out of normal everyday driving.
Brake dust is my worst enemy the more of that I can eliminate the less painfull it will be to clean my wheels.

Redstuff have definately made a noticeable improvement for dust (ie there is considerably less)

I would have thought the same about Yellowstuff (which is why I bought Reds) but after reading the specs page (and the review attached on the US site - on a VW none the less) I think I made the wrong decision.

according to the above specs, both HOT and COLD braking are "Excelent" (good for both on Greens, good for cold & excellent for hot on Reds)

                    and Redstuff for comparison:

yeah from what I have read, yellow is more track orientated but can be used for everyday driving, requires one or two stops to get them warm. One of the Audi guys was telling me about it. He says they are good.

Yeah reading about them and the GTI conversion I would lean towards the yellow stuffs now. I'm still worried about the brake dust issue though. As it is though, the amount I get on the R32 wheels now is horrendous and they are an absolute nightmare to clean. Something that produces much less dust would be very useful. Lots of food for thought until the time comes to replace the pads.

They're some fantastic offers there guys. I'll definitely have to take you up on those offers. I might take the V6 out as well and sell that too and put a 1.6L engine in as well. That way I can cut down the fuel economy as well.
I see the light all of a sudden.
