  • Baby Seats in Mk4 GTI

    Hi Guys,

I am looking at getting a Mk4 GTI, but want to know if baby seats fit OK in the back?

Are they easy to get in and out?

What sort of harness do they need - thanks.

    hi,
cant speak for the golf gti but i have done test fit in our polo (without securing it in place just placing it in the reversed position behind the passenger seat). It fits in but noone can sit in the front seat, so would imagine the golf would fit someone in the front but be squishy for them.
Dont think you need extra harnesses etc.. polo has securing bits in the hatch so the straps go over the back seat and into the hatch floor.
polo would also be a pita to get the baby in and out as its a 3 door.
Easiest thing to do is take the baby seat with you and fit it into the car BEFORE you buy it so that you know what its gonna be like.

Now there is a good idea! Take the baby seat and see how it goes, better to take the time now and find out than to get home and not be happy with it.
I'd also suggest not only putting it in, but making sure you can get at it to put the child in and out easily, after all, it might fit in but be a nightmare to get at.

My VR6, which of course is a 5 door, fits a baby seat quite nicely.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Well i dont have a kid or a baby seat. I am trying to plan ahead. and was hoping a user on this forum might already have a Mk4 Golf and baby and be able to tell me.

        thanks for your tips anyway.

can also do the same thing with the pram etc in the boot/hatch to see how well they fit and how much spare room you will have.
