Hi All, Seeking information on what is a reasonable cost to change clutch, renew brake fluid and coolant. My mate with Mk 4 GTI has been quoted between $1500 and $2500 for the above work, is this reasonable or over the top?

You could be charged an easy $1500 for a clutch change. Really depends on the clutch the mechanic uses, and the labour charges for the change.
Typically, most mechanics charge around $100/hour and the typical clutch change is usually around 6-8 hours. Being a fwd makes it a little easier than an awd but it's more difficult than a rwd car so you pay a bit more labour.
My car was fitted with a Bora V5 clutch and it cost the previous owner about $500 to buy.
As for the brake fluid and coolant change. That's easy DIY. Save some cashola. However I'd expect 1-2hrs labour for s coolant change and brake fluid flush a piece.

Agreed. The biggest expense is the clutch. The labour in that isn't so bad. Most workshops could do that part of it in half a day. They're pretty easy to do.
What clucth ? Dual mass flywheel and clucth kit is the OEM spec way to do things.
When I had mine done the flywheel and clutch was about $2K plus labour.
Change to single mass is a lot cheaper. $900 + labour
Fluid change is going to be nothing compared to the clutch work. 1 litre brake fluid 5 litres coolant and 1 hour labour under $200 I'd say.
