Hi Can someone provide details on how to remove the radio from Mk4 GTI as I need the serial number to find out security code.
Thanks
Jon
Just call VW and quote your VIN number, on both your rego sticker and on top of the fire wall and they will quote you the pass code. much easier than pulling it out
Thanks very much, I will ring Monday. And thanks for telling me how to remove. I guess you mean the little holes (2 of) on both sides on the front panel?
Thanks
Jon
Hi mate, I tried what you said but I didn't have any luck. I inserted 4 pieces of coat hanger wire into the 4 holes about 150mm long, I could feel it going past what I imagine to be the locking pieces and then hocked another piece into the cd opening and pulled but the radio wouldn't budge. Is there anything else I need to do at the same time?
I went to the dealers (Cricks in Maroochydore) but they said it was too old to be on the system.

Try another stealer, that's bull ****, I asked about 18 months ago no worries, if they had it then, they'd probably have it now.
With the wire, if you go too far in you can foook the clips, which is exactly what I did when I was putting a new headunit in. You'll probably have to get a proper set of removal keys from ebay, just type "VW radio removal key" into ebay. Then you'll have to yank at the unit to convince it to come out and hopefully don't snap a clip.
But in saying that, you really shouldn't have to, just try a few more dealers before you yank it out and potential damage the radio cage.
Sorry I took a while to get back. Managed to get radio out without breaking it. Used 4 nails the same size as the hole and out it came. Thanks again for your help.
