im just having issue finding a mk4 muffler.. but there are plenty of mk5 r32 mufflers cheap. they have the flapper aswell. would require more work to bring the tips to one side but im not 100% if the whole muffler would fit.. have not measured it.

is there anywhere else that this could be connected to so that you could hook up to the rpm switch? eg open up at like 2500rpm.. 4000rpm is pretty late

It'd be fairly tricky to do, but you'd have to have some sort of electronic circuitboard/brain that would send a signal to open the solenoid when the rev's from the cluster get above a certain rpm. You'd have to find a signal that comes from the cluster that changes with the rpm and then make a little circuitboard with a transistor that would drop it's resistance when you get over a certain rpm/voltage.

Not impossible but not something that anyone just can make.
