  • Fixing an electrical problem

    Hey everyone

Ages ago, (I have no idea where), I remember reading that if you disconnect the positive and negative battery terminals, and then touch them together for a few seconds, that it will fix some electrical gremlins?

Just wanting to know if anyone has done this? and will my car explode? haha

I've got a problem with my auto up/down function for my windows, but it seems to come and go. So thinking about trying this?

Also, on the topic of disconnecting the battery.. removing the terminals and then reconnecting after about 10minutes is how you reset your ecu right?

    Thanks in advance!

i was told to disconnect the battery for 15min or so and it would reset some things.

regards the windows, there is instructions in the manual on how to reset them.
it involves winding them up, then doing a few steps using the door lock via the key, but I forget what they are...

I have read the same thing as well. While chasing down some bugs during my engine conversion, I gave it a try.

Dunno if it fixed anything, but it didn't kill the car, or the ECU.

battery reset does fix stuff some times especially with the newer cars out now with so many ecu's etc... wouldnt think it would cure your windows but worth a try. remove both terminals from the battery then hold them together for 10 mins and then back on again.... to reset your windows either use the key in drivers door... turn to lock and hold in that position until all windows go to the top then turn to unlock and hold they will all open... this should return your 1 touch up down from the switch...if not hold each window switch until fully up..release then press up again for 2 seconds and then fully down.. release then down again for 2 seconds... should work..... is it just one window you have issues with or all 4?? ..VDUB.....

              Haha sounds complicated
But I'll give it a go
Currently only my drivers door has auto up/down
              Passenger only auto up
              And rears have no auto

So I'll disconnect battery and then try reprogram my windows using key

Do you start with windows down or up when locking the car?
