noisy starter motor

mines squealed ever since I bought the car about 2 years ago, still works fine. Have forever been wanting to pull it out and grease it. Just never seem to find the time, apparently its very common with our mk4 starters. Bit embarrassing when starting with a heap of people around. Haha

thanks for the advice. is the oil you use different to normal gear oil?
another question, is the engine oil vw specific (2.0l) like my other son's TD T5?

generally vw have two oils . petrol engines and diesel engines.. but it depends on what type of TDI your sons T5 is.. if it has a DPF filter or not makes a difference to oil used...
