  • R32 Wheel Fitment

Hey guys I'm looking at putting a set of BMW X5 Yspoke rims on my mk4 r32. I realise it's going to be a big job however I was wondering if I will be able to fit 20x10.5 under the rear? And 20x9.5 on the front? Has any one done this before?
    Cheers

    R32 is a 5 x 100?

What PCD and Offset are these rims? Are you planing to use adaptors?

I can't seem to find the offset but I'm positive the stud pattern is 5x100 so I'll have to go with billet spacers/adapters

Ahh that could raise some issues as I was thinking of putting four fronts on my car as they are only 9.5 as opposed to the rears which are 10.5. There for it would be impossible to get adapters that will not exceed 7mm

You're going to have a real bitch of a job getting these on.

And you need (unless you want to kill your Haldex diff) to ensure that front and rear rolling diameters are identical - not something I think you'll manage with the fitments you've mentioned.

20" wheels will also need licquorice strap tyres in order to stay anywhere close to the stock rolling diameter (stock tyres are 225/40R18, if you're adding another 2" to the wheels, that means you need to drop 2.5" from the sidewalls - so you'll end up with 6.5cm sidewalls as opposed to the stock 9cm ones - that's significant (and the tyres, assuming you can even get them, will be stupid expensive, even in **** brands).
                      Nothing to see here...

I agree with it being a bitch to get those wheels on but disagree with the Haldex needing identical rolling diameters. There's a built in tolerance with the Haldex up to a certain variance (4% IIRC). I ran 1.35% difference with no problems.

The only way I see these wheels fitting is if they can be redrilled which you probably wouldn't want to/should do anyway.

In the official Mk4 wheel thread gringo_54_oval has 20s on his 4mo Bora for an idea although not as fat.

I had 225/45R17 tyres on the rear and 235/45R17s on the front (very close to your own variance) and the rear diff was very much upset...

9.5" width will also potentially foul suspension and/or cause steering grief, for what it's worth.

Maybe it was just a bit of bad luck! Many people have run staggered without any dramas, although my new setup will be 8.5" all around mainly so I can rotate tyres.
