  • Bodykit - Where to buy?

    hi there

just had a look through the MK4 photo thread and was wondering where i could get the front lower section and side skirts that are on the red Gti in post 5 & 6?

seems fairly popular as ive seen a few MK4's on this forum with the same setup... had a bit of a search, but couldnt find anything other than big ricey kits which arent ayy good as id rather keep the body styling a little more subtle...

also what sort of price would i be looking at?

Ask Fuzion. thats his car. Dunno how long he is still banned for. Try and get him on Vortex. It will cost you a ****load but. Ive been qouted $2600 for that kit from England. Then you still have to get it painted....

        How much were those kits??

Dan - Dont buy kits from the USA. They have different spec front bars and a front valence wont fit ive been told. We have the Euro-spec bumpers.

                thats insane expensive!

why is it so expensive? hope there hasnt been a misunderstanding, i talking about just the lower lip of the bumper which i take just replaces the factory valance and the sideskirts?

oh well mabe later down the track, id rather spend that sort of cash on some wheels and ECU chip at this stage

nope, not a misprint. Once you factor in shipping, GST and import duty, it all adds up.

                        Theres 2 Kits.

First pic of my car is the "Votex" Bodykit from VW. fkn is right, it is quite expensive. Front Skirt alone is approx $700, sides about $550ea, and rear about the $400-600 mark once again at DEALER price! Unpainted and unfitted.

I have since changed my front skirt to the anniversary and put the votex one on mels black gti now (as she has anniversary sides, anniversary rear)

snowy and also ydgolf also have the votex and anniversary kits too, maybe they could shed some light on where theres came from as i got mine local...

dub20v is the caractere kit as he said, also quite expensive and needs to be also imported.

www.vwspeed.co.uk, www.awesomegti.com sell these kits, also inmotive.com.au gets in the Caractere Bodykits.

                        (ae skirt)

some people get their stock valances sprayed up, or get a 4motion rear (dual cutout for exhaust) (i have one laying around actually if anyones interested)

Unfortunately, the big killer with body-kits is their size and therefore the shipping costs. To get a full kit shipped in from O/S will cost the best part of $1000 just in shipping/insurance/customs charges and then you still have to pay for the kit itself on top of that,..... then get it painted and fitted.

If you buy one from a dealer all those costs will be built-in. From memory, the R32 style full kit from the dealer was around $4000 plus painting and fitting.

I guess you could do it bit by bit but the final cost may end up being even more that way.

Don't be tempted by cheap kits either, the results are usually not what you wanted.

                            Snowy.
