Actually I did this the other day as well. My wipers have been screeching like crazy so I figured I'd fix them. Went down to Autobarn and got some of their very nice and expensive Teflon coated blades that they stock. Not cheap at $12.99 per blade! However the very next day after I put them in a very nice low system developed and it bucketed down for a few days. What can I say but wow, each wipe the windscreen was pretty much dry for a split second and not a sound.
      Good stuff.

I've actually just replaced my old crappy looking wipers with new Aero ones off GAP. $30 for both pieces so it is a tiny bit more than $4 but they look tonnes better and now I know how to change them

I tried to replace the rubbers in my aero wipers, but the little end cap cracked rather than coming off.

They were looking a bit ratty anyway, so $44 for new ones from CCC makes things look nicer anyway!
          Nothing to see here...

I think some cars have weird clips with end caps. The newer VE commodores aren't so easily removeable. Looks like might need a tool to get end caps off.

I'll get aeros when have 475's in stock...

The Aero wiper ends just need to be gently pried off with a small flat blade screwdriver as in the pics, no special tools, if they resist don't force, just dip them in some hot water for a minute and they'll come off easy.

The 560mm ones are a bit short for one side. Am wondering if some of the others they have at K-mart would fit as well?

The 560mm should be fine for a MK4, so I assume you are trying this on a MK5 or some other car.

                    If that's the case, I'm sorry I don't know.

Yes this is on an MKV. I'll check next time I'm at K-mart if they have some that are longer.

With all the rain and storms we've been having in Brisbane lately (I wish some would come down on our friends in Victoria instead?) I got myself some inserts and swapped them over.

I am still trying to understand how VW can charge $40 per side to do this when the whole job took no more than 5 minutes. Literally 5 minutes. To describe VW charging for this as 'dodgy' would be a masterstroke of understatement.

So, I got myself a set of 560mm Trico OEM inserts and went to work. Thankfully the end caps could not have been easier to open, and clipped off with a gentle but positive pull with my thumb against a small screwdriver wedged underneath the end cap.

The 560mm size is definitely the go, as it leaves plenty to trim once the job is done so you can get the wiper fitting snuggly inside the arm and end cap. It wipes so cleanly and smoothly now that it is hard to tell where the windscreen actually is. It is crystal clear.

Big ups to Snowy for this How To as it really helped me understand what was needed (and helped make sure I didn't break anything! )

I bought 2 sets from Autobahn today (1 spare) as Kmart didn't have em..
had these suckers on in 10min, thanks to these step by step instructons.

This has to be the cheapest fix out there

                              thanks heaps

I should have read this thread before I started the easy job and destroyed both caps. Now struggle to find both caps
