  • Buying a 4-Motion Bora .. Sport vs normal ..

Hi guys .. i have a few questions as I'm about to pick up a Bora..

wondering what the differences are between the sport model and the normal model .. do they both come with Haldex system ?

is there any performance difference ? or is it purely a badge ?

    cheers,

    Sam

Bora 4Motion vs 4Motion Sport ? [Archive] - ozVolks Australian VW Enthusiast Forum

    Basically just aesthetics. Same performance.

Have you found one already or are you looking?

there is a million threads on this already...
next to no difference, driveline, motor, brakes, suspension is all the same.
sometimes wheels are different: 17x7.5 bora sports rather then
Problem is so many of them have been chopped and changed now from either accidents or damage.

we got the 2lt, V5, V6 4mo. then there was 'sports' and 'oettinger' versions of all of those 3

Ive been really looking at this one ..

2003 VOLKSWAGEN BORA 4-MOTION 1J MY2003 Sedan Private Cars For Sale in VIC - carsales.com.au

thought about this one .. 2001 VOLKSWAGEN BORA 4-MOTION 1J MY2002 Sedan Private Cars For Sale in NSW - carsales.com.au

found an Oettenger : 2003 VOLKSWAGEN BORA SPORT 4-MOTION 1J MY2003 Sedan Private Cars For Sale in NSW - carsales.com.au

which triggered my questions .. i read about most people adding the Haldex controller. . didn't the car come out with them standard ?
have you guys heard anything about these cars ?

the silver one in VIC is a long way away from me .. but for the price . if it has no issues it is more than worth it i'd say . .

any input guys ? cheers for clearing that up

that red one has been up and down for sale forever as im aware.
it hasnt got the full oettinger kit on it (standard 4mo valance, weird rear bumper, however they are colourcoded) but they all seem to be a bit miss match.

Peters would be a good buy, always mint when I see it at shows, and owned by a vw lover.
challenge accepted on the air horn btw Pete mines tiny now, but i have plans

a lot of people have the haldex unit upgraded, stock one works that the car is FWD until the front wheels start to slip then the rears kick in. when people do the upgraded ones generally they increase the % or put power to the rear all the time

Well come down to VIC to inspect that silver Bora and it's less risky as you can also inspect Peter's... and mine.

Dylans right that the red 03 looks suspect. Both it and the silver one were for sale when i bought mine which was over 6 months ago.

Pete's car sounds like a minter ! i'd be keen to have a look .. but I'm trying to get something with under 100,000 KMs ..

Kapowww , if you all guys are close to each other I'd love to Check your rides out .. never been down Victorias way .. so I'm pretty excited .. just gotta get the Loan Cleared first ..

The silver one looks as it has been looked after ... and gotta say the milage is pretty impressive for a car of that age ..

yeah the silver one does seem to have been on the market for some time .. i'll see if i can get the seller to do a RWC .. just to make sure she's is top shape mechanically .. do we know any good VW mechanics that would be able to inspect a car down in Melbourne's way ?

Good luck with that - my horn is a 37 1/2" Grover. It took me a day just to figure out how to fit it in the engine bay. Grover Products

Yep. Most trucks only have the 24" version fitted. Gives a very low note. Some fire trucks have this type for clearing intersections.

There's a.small tank under the floor in the boot alongside the spare. I just pump it up to 150 PSI and.it lasts for months before needing a refill.

Installation is very discrete most people can't find it in the engine bay.

You do need to use it responsibly though, people tend to swerve when you hit it.
