  • May have "relieved" a bit of my axel bind problems today. Last time I tried to loosen the engine mount bolts on the passenger side and push the engine towards the drivers side I didn't get it to move very far at all. Today I had a bit of spare time so I decided to try again. This time I actually got my scissor jack down in there, and with a few pieces of metal and a lot of smashed knuckles I managed to move the engine a LOT further. See the picture below.

Anyways seemed to have gotten rid of most of my bind. May possibly be able to lower the front a little bit more now.

I'm pretty jealous that you have no such thing dylan!!! so much easier to slam a 2.0! You don't even hit the frame?

    • winning! fair bit of movement by the looks!

nar, my car has self notched so much I barely touch anymore. subframe was like 1cm off the deck on 18s in the end I think.
was fine to roll around like that too.

              • My brake pad light came on the other day so I picked up some pads from Gumtree for 45 bucks. They are ceramic so hopefully it will help with keeping the bbs's clean.

                Anyone used these pads before?

                • reading a bit from tex, a decent lift on the engines seems to solve the axel binding issue. but obviously increases the chance of chassis to driveshaft as you have now moved them closer
What does yours sound like again? as im only really noticing the clicking from my passenger outter when im slammed now

like the idea of the welded plate, is it possible with ours though?
if you go down that path, make sure to have a angled section at the front. the idea of that square end of that plate hooking up with a man holes scares me

                  • Yeah I have been thinking about motor mount spacers for a while....but like you said it will bring the drivers shaft closer to the frame and I want to avoid having to notch my frame. I can't imagine house much grief I would be in if I was in an accident and they found out I had cut a piece out of my frame rail!!!

The noise is like a helicopter/wheel wobbling like its going to fall off sort of thing. Could be binding? The oem axels and CV's are pretty tuff, takes a bit to brake them.

I have heard about people just running a passenger side spacer though. that could be an idea?

Welded plate can be done. like you said the front would need some some sort of angled section to deflect instead of grab stuff when it hit.

                    • Had the skirts painted last weekend, Threw them on today. Car was dirty and wheels were worse but i decided to take a few pictures anyways. Lowered the front a tiny bit more, rear has perches in without the adjuster. They will come out next weekend then try and get the front down a tiny bit more. Then I reckon i'll be a bit more happy about where its sitting.

I'm pretty happy with the skirts. fitment was pretty good. They do Bow a little on the bottom. I have heard of them doing that. Possibly will make up some sort of bracket or something to help with it. Doesn't look to bad though.

Also thinking of running a really small bead of black sikaflex along the top so water doesn't just run down behind the skirt. Does that sound like a good idea? or a bit ghetto......

                      • sweet, I noticed my factory kit was fitted with the use of sikaflek (dealer fitted I believe)
which could do with a refit, has done a good 10 year job tho.

Paint is not really that good.... Editing helps haha. My front and rear bars definately could do with some attention, plus many other carpark scratches.....

                              • You mean the front lip? I have thought about painting it. But it would get pretty smashed up quick smart. I do have a spare one I could get painted for special occasions. But its probably not worth the cash....
