after, lets just say, every possible thing going wrong to get my car tuned. I finally got my golf back. I wont go into details, but there were some lengthy delays. The companies who organised the tuning made a real effort to make ammends and im happy to have my car back.

The GTI now sports a viezu race tune, and a 2.5 inch stainless steel dump pipe with flex pipe and 100cell race cat, which matches up to my existing billyboat stainless catback system.

Car definately has some more pull, but being 40 degrees the car wasnt exactly in prime running weather, so i didnt give it a good go. They got it up on the dyno, but said it was too bloody hot in the dyno room to get anything of an accurate run and the timing was getting thrown out.

Ive gained around 5 PSI from the tune i'd say, though im fairly confident i have a boost leak, which i was under the impression i had earlier. The car just isnt holding boost very well. It will peak at 4K rpm and then just start to drop away.

Im going to get the system pressure tested and ill make an opinion of the tune once a few tanks of fuel and any errors have been rectified.

I must say, it sounds awesome.

then whilst i had my car back, i decided to test fit the volks on the front.. 17x8 +38 (the other pair are +39, but i tried the 38s on the front)

        Think i might need spacers?

Nice one!! I'd love to be able to afford a 2.5" system, even just a down pipe.

Are those the same coilovers that I have? FK AK Street?

How does one go about getting the 'system' tested for boost/vacuum/air leaks?
Dark Grey Mk4 Golf, 1.8T GTI conversion, APR stage 1, stock air intake, FMIC, 3" to 2.5" Exhaust, FK AK Street Coils, Black 18" (Avant Garde M310's ?), tinted tails, ...

            Thanks mate!

the down pipe really lets you hear the spool up of the lil turbo now, i love it. the system sounds perfect. my housemate did a "driveby" while i was on the side of the road and it sounded great.

Same coilovers mate. Basically to test the system, you need to seal off the air intake side using a silicon joiner and then use an end piece with an air line nipple in it. you then just add air to the system up to your desired PSI and check for leaks. proper workshops have a 'smoke' pumped through so its easier to find and splits or bad joins. all of which rob horsies from you.

If you want to have a crack at making your own, theres a how to by mighty car mods on youtube.

sweet, was waiting for your reply dyl.
Drilling worked out sweet. fitted the volks up no problem (obviously still need hub rings), so took a little effort getting to line with the PCD

yeah its a pain when they are no hubcentric or have studs to balance on.
try to get hub rings before running them, we managed to torque up Ryans wheels the second time (tyre shop couldnt do it) without using hubrings and they didnt wobble, but its just such a PITA.

                  hubrings and tyres asap

                      • Looks good mate, I had the same issues with my wheels/FK AK's. I removed helpers and put spacers on. I also had to remove sway bar as the driveshaft was rubbing hard on it!

Have you seen the boost from my Polo?

                            Thats a K03s as well.

They don't hold it once they peak and definitely not in the lower gears. A run in 3rd or 4th up a hill will get the best boost pressure.

As the tuners have said, you can't realistically dyno on mega hot days, the AITs go up and fuel gets injected and timing pulled.

                            Front mount for you soon!

225/45s should be fine then, will have to remove the helper spring though

Would a front mount realistically make much difference performance wise? They are small little turbos
